The Second ‘The Martian’ Trailer Has Landed
Based on the novel The Martian by Andy Weir comes the adaptation that will hopefully give us a Mars film done right. Fox just released the second trailer for The Martian, in which astronaut Mark Watney (played by Matt Damon) is stranded on Mars, assumed dead after an accident forced the crew to lift-off, and has to figure out how to survive on the red planet long enough for a four-year rescue mission to come and save him from 140 million miles away.
The first trailer for the film really focused on Matt Damon trying to figure out how to stay alive on the planet. This trailer focuses more on both him science-ing the shit out of things, and how his struggle is viewed at home. If the reaction from the world over the course of a few days for Apollo 13 returning was a media event, this will surely captivate the attention of Earth in The Martian.
I won’t spoil anymore of what I’m sure will be a fantastic space film that’s based on a must-read book. Check out the trailer for The Martian below:
The Martian stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Sean Bean, Sebastian Stan, Aksel Hennie, Donald Glover, Mackenzie Davis, and Chiwetel Ejiofor. It will be in theaters everywhere on October 2nd.
