Go Ahead And Try To Knock Over The New Electric C-1 By Lit Motors
It’s being billed as the new two wheeler that will “never, ever fall over”. The two gyroscopes keep the new C1 prototype by Lit Motors constantly upright. That means it stays standing while at a complete stop . How much force would it take to knock the C1 on its side? According to Lit, a small elephant would have to hit it broadside to put the C1 on the ground.” Now that is cool! And this is an actual prototype so it may make it to market.
Over six months, we built a variety of prototypes, culminating in our full-scale driving prototype which we unveiled onstage at TechCrunch Disrupt SF Startup Battlefield.
The “secret sauce” of the C-1 is our patented gyroscopic stability system. We use electronically-controlled control moment gyroscopes (CMGs) to generate thousands of ft-lbs of torque. The gyros are controlled by the vehicle, allowing it to lean itself into and out of turns, and stay upright when stopped–even in a collision! The gyro system is the key to bringing the safety and interface of a car to a two-wheeled platform.
The C-1 is 100% electric, using a small 10 kWh battery pack to travel up to 200 miles per charge. And the C-1 is freeway-ready, with a top speed of 100+ mph and acceleration of 0-60 in six seconds.
