TED Talks: Future Generations Could Live On Mars And Here’s How They’ll Live
A few years ago, I remember reading about what life on Mars would be like if we managed to get there intact: We’d land and live in little pods, which is basically tiny bedrooms on a planet where you literally can’t walk outside of the room without a protective suit. Imagine if you were sitting in your studio apartment (which will be bigger than that pod) and you have to put on a huge amount of gear just to leave the apartment, but instead of stores, sidewalks, people, air, and other things you’d expect on Earth…. there’s nothing but endless desert that could kill you. Sounds fun, right?
I know the idea of going to another planet is fun and all, but what humans get used to new things. That friend of yours who got that badass new BMW? After a few weeks of that being his brand new toy, it just becomes his car. New things become routine, and that’s the main difficulty to see if humans can survive in an environment like this.
Author Stephen Petranek explains what it will be like for your kids and their kids to live on Mars. I started this off with what I think it would be like to live on Mars, but Petranek explains in detail what it could be like. Spoiler alert: Elon Musk is Tony Stark.
