Florida Gov. confirms first Zika cases contracted by local mosquitos
Florida Gov. Rick Scott confirmed Friday that four people in the state have contracted the Zika virus via local mosquitos. Florida health officials have been investigating the spread of the virus by local mosquitos over the last week. Scott urged pregnant women in the Miami Dade area to go to OB/GYN physicians for a Zika prevention kit.
These cases are the first in the United States to be contracted by local mosquitos. So far, there have been 386 cases of Zika in Florida, that includes 55 women who are pregnant. Miami-Dade and Broward counties have the highest number of cases so far.
