‘Ice bucket challenge’ donations helped fund ALS breakthrough
The Ice Bucket Challenge from 2014 seems to be useful, after all. The money that was donated, was then distributed toward researching the disease.
One of the research initiatives largely funded by the Ice Bucket Challenge was , Project MinE. The company announced Monday that it had found a gene that is associated with the disease. Hoping to: “eradicate this disease from the face of the earth.”
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, was an activity involving dumping a bucket of ice and water on someone’s head to promote awareness of the disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, known mostly in the US as Lou Gehrig’s Disease) and encourage donations to research. It went viral on social media during July–August 2014
