‘MR. ROBOT’ — eps2.9_pyth0n-pt1.p7z— RECAP AND ANALYSIS
Each week, Social Underground will go over the newest episode of the hit show Mr. Robot. There will be a recap of what happened, and then some commentary on what happened and where the show might go next. Trying to figure out where this show goes is pretty difficult since there are many plots that interweave. The good thing about that is having a show that’s unpredictable. No one likes knowing the end of a season at the beginning.
Last Week’s Recap: ‘MR. ROBOT’ — EPS2.7INIT5.FVE AND EPS2.8H1DDEN-PR0CESS.AXX— RECAP AND ANALYSIS
The past few weeks have seen some death, some hacking, and a major build up to what looks like a strange season finale. This week’s first half of the season finale got into strange territory by having some scenes that practically reminded me of Twin Peaks when it fell off the deep end.
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
Let’s get into part one of the season 2 finale, shall we?
Dom demands the shootout be investigated as a possible act of war from the Dark Army, but is told there is no way the government will break relations with China which just gave the US $2 trillion. She cleans up the blood from the crimes scene, lays in bed, then has a depressing conversation with her Amazon Echo. Not sure how happy they are that a depressed FBI agent has a near suicidal conversation with it, but any promotion is good promotion.
Joanna considers the phone’s location to be a great gift from Tyrell. Still have no clue what her and her henchmen have planned. They seem like they are part of all this, but also have nothing to do with anything. We still don’t find out about why the location Elliot discovered for her, but I’m sure it will play in big time next week.
Phillip Price uses the bailout money to launch Ecoin and force the government’s approval to keep pace with China and rebuild the banking sector. I’m pretty sure that anyone that took a few classes in Economics know that getting a $2 trillion dollar loan from the Chinese could end in doom, but greed is greed.
Angela is taken to a house where a seemingly tortured girl gives her a psych evaluation. Her captor is White Rose who says Angela was spared months ago; she wants Angela to believe in the plan for the Washington Township plant, claiming her mother and Elliot’s father died for the greater good. This is the part in the episode that really gave off a Twin Peaks vibe. I sat there for a few moments wonder what kind of weirdness was going on, but I just remembered that this is Mr. Robot, so it comes with the territory.
Angela tells her lawyer to never call her again. Being in the Dark Army is somewhat not a good place to be around a lawyer. I mean, lawyer’s always get targeted for knowing too much, and since Angela is now an agent of the Dark Army, it’s best not to have her lawyer get into danger. Angela has transitioned from a crying mess to what looks like a faceless assassin. Good for her.
Elliot uses lucid dreaming to watch Mr. Robot decode a message in the apartment. He takes control of his body and heads to the cab that the decoded message said to go to. To his astonishment, Tyrell gets in — or does he? The cab driver doesn’t directly acknowledge Tyrell and kicks Elliot out for panicking. There’s now the question of whether that is the real Tyrell or if it’s just another hallucination for Elliot. Tyrell says the Dark Army have Stage 2 ready and Elliot will be pleased. Then they walk down the street with Elliot still utterly confused.
This is all setting up to what could be a great finale that may finally give us some answers. A lot of questions were raised in this episode that I want answered.
- Who is the little girl used to ask Angela questions?
- Who were the two that picked Angela up?
- Whose house was it they used for the questioning?
- What is at that location that Joanna is so excited about?
- What was the end result of that shoot out?
- Is the financial loan really a set up for disaster?
- Is Darlene alive?
- What did Angela’s interrogation scene ever mean?
- What happened in-between Angela asking White Rose about Elliot and her going to her lawyer like a zombie?
- What does Phase 2 have to do with E Corp and Price?
- What the hell is going to happen in the finale?
Another episode with more questions than answers. This means the finale better start some more revealing instead of piling on the questions. We don’t want another LOST. I can’t go through that again.
Get hyped for the season finale next week!
