ToneTree OAK: The Augmented Reality App For Your iPhone
The ToneTree Oak dock is an augmented reality platform that can turn a iPhone into a table top reality playground for any user. It’s amazingly simple since all you have to do is place your iPhone on to the Oak dock, and then play the multiple different kits for its augmented reality. You can play games, fly through the air, play music, and you can even create your own app.
What types of special kits do can you use for the ToneTree Oak?
- The Rockstar Kit lets you play any instrument anywhere. Just place the included pads down in front of Oak and break out into a jam session. Carry a music studio in your pocket!
- The Gamer Kit turns your table into a battlefield. Collect powerful AR trading cards, place them in front of the Oak and watch them come to life as you battle your friends.
- The Explorer Kit lets you pilot your own spaceship. Use a toy ship to dodge asteroids and battle enemies as you explore deep space. With your ship in your hand, you’re in full control.
- The Developer Kit lets you create your own augmented reality apps. Our powerful SDK is built on top of familiar iOS APIs to make developing AR fast, affordable and easy.
But how does this interesting new iPhone AR technology work? Well, Oak uses computer vision technology to see what is going on in front of your phone and adapt. Think of Duck Hunt back in the 80’s, but way more advanced. Like the gun in that game, the Oak will have items called totems. These are plastic objects that the computer vision technology of the Oak can use to put you into the game.
Tech Requirements
- iPhone 6 and up
- iOS 8 or higher
- Larger iPhone Plus requires a small extra piece (no extra charge, just let us know in the backer survey)
- Android support will be available in Oak V2!
Early bird pledges start at $39. Oak launched on Kickstarter on November 1st. Oak will ship in August 2017. This will be a great holiday gift for anyone who happens to like incredibly interactive games that remind you that you live in the future.
