The Announcement Trailer For ‘Blade Runner 2049’ Just In Time For The Holidays
Warner Bros. has just released the long-awaited teaser for The Blade Runner sequel Blade Runner 2049, which is produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario). Returning to the groundbreaking world is star Harrison Ford, along with Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Robin Wright, Jared Leto, Barkhad Abdi, Lennie James, Mackenzie Davis, Sylvia Hoek, and Dave Bautista. I know what you’re thinking — Jared Leto? No.
Premise: Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
The film is set to be released on October 6, 2017, so there is probably still a lot of footage to be shot, but looking at the trailer, it seems they have got everything down and reminiscent of the original film thanks to the legendary cinematography of Roger Deakins (No Country For Old Men, The Shawshank Redeption). With Gosling taking the lead, it will be interesting to see how Ford fits into the scheme of the film. Let’s hope he’s not taking a back seat the entire time like the Indiana Jones will that should’ve never been made.
