Ford puts Amazon’s Alexa in the passenger seat
Let’s face it, cars are getting smarter. As we’ve now passed the middle of the second decade of the 21st century the auto industry is leaping forward. Self driving cars with Auto Pilot, integrated GPS, seamless phone integration with our smart phones. Now we can order anything we want whether it’s groceries, school supplies or a pair of jeans all without having to move a limb while in the drivers seat.
Amazon’s Alexa smart assistant is the ultimate backseat driver. Ford and Amazon have teamed up to bring a cloud-based voice service to motorists. Alexa will let drivers order items on Amazon, listen to audio books, play music, check news, search for restaurants and get directions.
Ford is using its Sync 3 infotainment head unit, included in most Ford vehicles, to integrate Alexa.
