Elon Musk’s SpaceX is preparing to resume rocket launches in January, following an accident that occurred during ground preparations last fall. The Falcon 9 is to launch on January 8 from North California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base, but the date is tentative depending on practice tests this week.

The previous rocket accident resulted due to problematic fueling procedures, as opposed to a manufacturing flaw. Investigators determined that the rocket ignited “due to accumulation of oxygen” and pressure. If all goes well with the testing, the Falcon 9 will be launched Sunday.
