To infinity and beyond: SpaceX to fly two people around the moon in 2018
Men may not be walking on the moon again, but according to SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, they will be orbiting it. According to Musk, it will be a private mission with two paying customers.
The trip will take one week and see the passengers skim the surface of the Moon, go further out into deep space and loop back to Earth. How much miles will they be traveling exactly? Approximately 300,000 to 400,000 miles. Musk declined to elaborate on who the passengers were, but said that they were “very serious” and already left a significant deposit. The trip is set for a launch during the second quarter of 2018.
