At Social Underground we go beyond the mainstream stuff and see what’s underneath the surface. What should we get into, listen to, read, eat or watch? If there is something in our culture that needs attention that’s our job: Show you the underground things that you need to know about: Books, music, television, movies, comedians, art, and whatever else we can find to get you into something you never knew about. That’s The Underground.
1. Bill Burr’s new comedy special Walk Your Way Out is now out on Netflix. Bill Burr is one of the best comedians out there. His comedy specials are like an event for me. When I see him making the rounds on the talk shows, that usually means he is promoting something like his TV show or a new special. A new special is exactly what we all need right now: Someone losing their mind on stage. It’s therapeutic when you see all the rage you want to let off in one day suddenly appear on stage in front of you. I have no evidence of this, but I bet people with grey hair will change back to its original color during his set. The stress will lift off you.
A few days ago, Netflix premiered Bill Burr’s new special Walk Your Way Out. It’s every bit as funny as you would expect, but what changes it up a bit is he does his special in Nashville. You have to be careful what you say there in front of crowds there. Bill doesn’t care, so he goes for it and wins the day.
Check out the new special now, and watch the trailer below.
2. Train to Busan is a Korean zombie film that will revitalize your love of zombies. I thought I was just about done with the zombie genre. The moment Hollywood came out with that one film where a zombie falls in love with a girl, I was out. Not to mention how bad The Walking Dead is now. Luckily I was told to check out the trailer for this movie. It looked like what World War Z wanted to be if it wasn’t held back by the superior book.
Premise: Sok-woo and his daughter Soo-ahn are boarding the KTX, a fast train that shall bring them from Seoul to Busan. But during their journey, the train is overrun by zombies which kill several of the train staff and other passengers. While the KTX is shooting towards Busan, the passengers have to fight for their lives against the zombies.
I really loved it. It was serious for a zombie film. I was waiting until it stopped being so dark, but they really kept up the sadness or terror the entire time. Busan will make you not want to get on a train anymore. It should also teach you not to go up to monsters or zombies and asking “You… you okay?” as they spit up blood and scream at you.
Feast your eyes on one of the best zombie films to come out in the past few years. Also, break out the kleenex.
3. How not to be boring in real life. We have all thought at one time or another the questions of “Am I boring everyone?” If you haven’t you’re lying. I can’t count the time I’ve been on a date, notice her smile cracked a bit, and then wondered if I was boring her. I’ve been with family and friends and notice that no one laughed at a joke, then freak out and wonder if I’m boring. It’s a feeling that no one wants to feel, but self-confidence can take a blow if the right room makes you feel that way.
The truth is that no one is really boring, they just might have trouble expressing themselves. The video below shows you that you may think you’re boring, but it might all be in the way you carry yourself or how you think and deliver yourself. You’re a living thing on a planet who mostly thinks that aliens probably don’t exist. In the case, you’re not boring, you’re unique.
Check out this interesting video to tell you that you’re totally not boring.
4. Conan brings in 5 superstars to play some video games ahead of Super Bowl 51. Conan’s Clueless Gamer is so good that it’s reportedly getting its own show on TBS. Why it works so well is that Conan is self-depreciating. He knows he’s bad at video games, so why not film it and make fun of the game, himself, and whomever he had on the show that week.
This time, Conan brings in his football love Tom Brady to play some games. Brady is in the Super Bowl yet again, and he seems game enough to play the games with some teammates, some guys playing against him from the Atlanta Falcons, and of course, fan favorite Marshawn Lynch (Skittles included) come in to increase the laughter even more as they play a game called For Honor. A fighting game that looks like Dark Souls III, but you exclusively fight each other. That sounds interesting, but I’m sure some nerd will tell me it’s a remake of a game from 1989 or something. Stupid person I just made up.
The important thing here is that Conan played video games with a bunch of sh*t talking football champions for a long time. I want to hate Tom Brady, but he’s just too damn good. And in this video, he’s pretty funny.
