Say goodbye to Netflix’s five-star rating
Netflix is changing its five-star rating system to a new thumbs up/thumbs down option. “Five stars feels very yesterday now. We’re spending many billions of dollars on the titles we’re producing and licensing, and with these big catalogs, that just adds a challenge.” said VP of Product Todd Yellin.
Last year, Netflix conducted a beta test for the ‘thumbs’ systems. The company reported that over 200 percent more ratings were logged with the new system, which was the ultimate factor in changing the ratings. They’ll also add a percentage matching system, which will use percentages to show how likely a subscriber will enjoy a show or movie.
