Reports of Nintendo releasing a mini SNES have been spreading since the company discontinued the NES Classic Edition. According to Eurogamer, ‘sources close to Nintendo’ state that the video game company is preparing a miniature version of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System for a Christmas launch.
“From the company’s perspective, the microconsole was planned as a cool novelty item perfect for Christmas 2016, and the numbers in which it was manufactured and shipped were expected to be enough to suit this goal.” Tom Philips, Eurogamer.
The original SNES was released in 1990 in Japan and 1991 in North America, featuring classic games like ‘Super Mario World’ and ‘Donkey Kong Country.’
