Earth could surpass major climate threshold in the next decade
Global temperatures could increase by 1.5 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels within just nine years, according to a new study. The report, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, indicates the new temperature would cross the first threshold under the Paris climate agreement.

Under the Paris Agreement, the goal was to “pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5C above pre-industrial levels.” The study comes amid debates whether the Trump administration will withdraw from the Paris accord.
