What Does -100 Degrees Feel Like?
The east coast is dealing with staggeringly freezing temperatures after winter storm Grayson swept through this week. But, the temperatures won’t drop as low as the summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire, which will see -40 degrees with 100 mph winds causing a -100 degree windchill.

Weather Observer Adam Gill told Travel + Leisure: “Your skin starts to burn, kind of like if you’re holding your hand too close to a hot fire” Gill also said “Temperatures of -80 degrees can give you frostbite in as little as 30 seconds. When you first step outside, to breathe is more difficult, because the air is cold and dry. It’s kind of like walking outside and walking into super cold water.”
