Netflix Plans on Having 700 Original Shows and Movies by 2019

According to Netflix CFO David Wells, the company is set to spend $8 billion on content in 2018. Despite the massive push for original content, Wells says it doesn’t really matter where their programming comes from.

“People don’t care where the stories come from. We’re about having the best content. We don’t necessarily have to do it ourselves.” – David Wells, Netflix CFO
Last month, the company told investors that it would be increasing its marketing budget drastically, from $1.3 billion to $2 billion. It marks a shift for Netflix, who according to Wells, “used to think every incremental dollar was best spent on content.”
