KFC to Test Vegetarian Alternative in the UK
The UK is committed to reduce calories per serving by 20 percent come 2025, and KFC announced it will join the move with a new recipe. “The development of the recipe is still in its very early stages and so the options we’re exploring in our kitchen are still top secret.” KFC spokesperson, via CNN
The vegetarian menu could be released as early as next year, and may also offer low to zero calorie options for soft drinks. KFC was in hot water with the UK earlier this year when logistics error caused a chicken shortage, which resulted in the closure of hundreds of its restaurants. The chain, which is owned by Yum Brands, issued an apology.
