How to Beat Hangovers With Your Diet
Science now has all the tips you need to avoid and prevent hangovers. The No. 1 way to prevent a hangover? Don’t drink. And the second-best way? Drink less.
But for those of us who like to partake, darker liquors should be minimized, as they may cause more intense hangovers. That’s because dark liquors are higher in congeners, which are linked to increased hangover symptoms.
Eating before or while drinking will soak up some of the booze. Loading up on eggs, meat, fish, orange and yellow colored vegetables and bananas will boost your potassium, zinc and folate levels.
Staying hydrated is also extremely important. The US National Library of Medicine recommends a glass of water in between drinks to prevent a hangover.
