What to Do When You Are at Home Sick
Sometimes no matter how careful someone is, they are going to get sick at some stage or another. Thankfully, a lot of the time it’s just a throat infection or a common cold. There’s not really too much you can do with these illnesses except to sit tight and wait for it to pass. But that may not be the most interesting thing to most people, meaning they want it to pass as quickly as possible. You are obviously going to want it to pass quickly, but you will also hope that the time you do have to spend at home isn’t too bad. So, here are some suggestions on what to do when you are home sick.
Rest
Rule number one of getting over any sort of illness is rest. If you are constantly moving around exerting yourself or even getting stressed, you can be sure you won’t feel any better. The best thing to do is just stay well rested and try to do as little as possible. Although you might feel the need to be productive, seeing as you are at home all day, it’s worth remembering rest is the best medicine. The only reasons you should really be getting out of bed are to go to the toilet and to eat. Otherwise, get comfortable in that bed of yours.
Distract Yourself
Lying in bed isn’t exactly the most fun thing in the world. However, there are some things that can make the experience a little bit better. You’d actually be surprised how much you can do from the comfort of your own bed, but here are some suggestions.
Online gaming – Playing games online really doesn’t require much energy. You’d be surprised how fast the time goes when you get really engrossed in a game. The likes of online slots will have you occupied for hours. The fast paced, exciting games are the best to play on days like those. They can really help take your mind off how bad you’re feeling.
Binge watch – Everyone loves spending the day just getting lost in Netflix. It is so good at passing the time that it can be dangerous if you have things to do that day. However, a sick day is the perfect time to binge. You can rest while just enjoying some great shows or movies.
Call a friend – You’re probably not going to be in the mood to go see friends when you are feeling under the weather. Not to mention, they probably won’t want to get too close to you. But you should give them a call to try to distract yourself. You can play games or even just talk about life. It’s a nice relaxed way to pass the time.
Drink Fluids
Another important part of speeding up the recovery process is drinking plenty of liquids. It is ideal to get a good volume of water at your bedside for the day. This way you can be constantly drinking without having to do a great deal of moving.
